My Truth | A Sermon Series

It's not uncommon to hear a person express this idea: "I speak my truth." On the surface, it may seem like the idea of speaking one's own truth is not entirely different from what Martin Luther, the German monk who started the Lutheran Reformation, said: "Here I stand, I can do no other." In reality, though, it is totally different. Martin Luther didn't speak a truth that he could claim as his own. He spent much of his early life fighting against it. Once he became convinced of it, though, he submitted to it entirely. The idea that truth can be different from one person to another is ill-founded and broken. So what can we do with this increasingly present idea of "speaking one's own truth?"
