Behind every “lost dog” poster tacked to a telephone pole, street sign, or bulletin board, there’s a story. Hung with a heart beating fast and jaw clenched in hope, they speak of the joy of being together and the pain of being apart. The book of Jeremiah tells a similar story. A broken-hearted God, who is desperate to bring a wandering people back out of danger and into safety, is calling out to the lost. He knows the pain of being left by the ones he loves, but he wants nothing more than the joy of being reunited.
